At a time when racing bicycles were averagely heavy with long wheelbases and flat angles, Ernesto Colnago released a frameset which would become a legend of cycling history and one of the top models of his 1970s and 1980s catalogues – the Super. Made of Columbus SL steel tubes, with a shorter, stiffer and lighter frame, the Colnago Super was designed for high-performance. Since the launch, uncountable racing bicycles have been built with a geometry inspired by the Super. The frame size is 54cm ctt. The top tube is approx 54cms ctc. There are no dents or bends and the frame is straight and true. You can see it has has a repaint and new decals. The chrome is good and the paint is very good but does have a couple of touch ups. Overall I would rate both the quality of the repaint and the current standard of the paint at 8/10. The bike comes with ITM pantographed stem and Cinelli bars – the bars do have some insert marks as shown in the pictures. It has Campagnolo Nuovo Record shifters, front and rear mech and fantastic record hubs with light mavic tubular rims. The chainset is a rare 165mm Campagnolo record with a clover outrer chainring and Galli inner. The bolts are not Campagnolo. Other parts include a Modolo brakeset with replacement hoods and a Campagnolo pantographed seat post. Overall this bike is in great condition for being approx 40 years old. However, I wouldn’t recommend riding as hard as a modern bike and I would recommend a full service by a qualified mechanic. The brakes will need adjusted slightly and I have reflected this in the asking price. Any questions, please ask before purchasing.
