Frameset: Frame number SB4522, this frame is a super rare Raleigh / Denton frameset built in Ilkeston by the then world famous Specialist Bicycle Development Unit. Handmade with Reynolds 753r tubes. Denton cycles had an almost unique relationship with SBDU and therefore were able to order and brand the SBDU bikes. This frame has the rarer Shimano Dropouts, Its completely original as it was when made in about 1981/82. The paint work is in amazing condition. So many SBDU frames have now been repainted they are never the same as when new. The deep black on this has an beautiful shine and its authenticity is almost impossible to replicate. The decals are simple but stunning. The frame oozes quality and comes to life when viewed in person, its hard to see the workmanship in photos alone. 55cm seat tube center to center, but stamped 57 on the Bottom Bracket. Groupset: A near complete Campagnolo 50th Anniversary. The Groupset is also in stunning condition, it has had almost no use and been carefully stored. Beautiful engineering and production, the like of which you don’t see today. This group was released in 1983 to commemorate Campagnolo’s 50th year in business. Group #0001 was retained in the Campagnolo museum, and #0002 was presented to Pope John Paul ll. This is group number 7101. The group was based on the Super Record and Cobalto group of the era and was top of the range, with some significant extra touches. Most pieces were marked by a 22 carrot gold logo with a raised/textured Campagnolo shield logo. All pieces contained an engraved signature of Tullio Campagnolo, and a special “50th” logo. The bike is finished off with the original Cinelli Bars and Cinelli 1A Stem. Complete with Turbo saddle and Original Denton Cycles branded Mavic GP4 red label Rims. This bike is a true work of art!
