Guerciotti Super Light “Drillirium”. Refers to the process of milling and drilling metal parts of bicycle components. In the 60s and 70s this trend appeared among the riders by slimming some parts of their bikes from unnecessary grams. Drillium is the phrase describing bicycle parts that have been modified by drilling holes in them to reduce weight and give personality. What was originally a way to save a few grams at the expense of durability, has become a form of artistic expression. Like many other successful bike companies e. Colnago Guerciotti tried to work with different materials than just steel and started with aluminium. Though the metal itself was promising, when it came to frame building, the processing of the material was rather difficult. In the 1970s, when aluminium frames were still something new and mostly poorly made, Alan started its business with high class aluminium road bikes and cyclocross bikes. They were one of the first manufacturers who were able to build aluminium road bikes in a light reliable structure. Their frames were made from very durable aluminium alloy tubes, which are connected together by screwed and glued lugs. Many championships proved their quality. Pantographed Guerciotti Campagnolo friction shift levers NOS. These have the lettering on the reverse side which would indicate late 70s into the 80s Super Record era. These are for a pair of levers only, no hardware such as screws and plastic washers. These have been recently milled on original machinery from the 70s and the workmanship far exceeds that of the original artisan’s work. Seat tube c-c 58. Cm, Top tube c-c 57cm. For sale is a beautiful, restored condition, 1981 Guerciotti Mod. It features many cutouts and drilling besides the usual Guerciotti pantography. The bike is completely equipped with Campagnolo Super Record components with pantography on the seatpost, chainring, brake calippers and brake levers. The original paint didn’t look bad, but it had many chips and scratches, no dings, rust or cracks. Because the bike had the same colour, it made a high contrast with the whit filler that could be seen because of the chips. The whole groupset looks excellent and it was a pitty not making this bike perfect, so I dismantled it again and decided to paint it. The bike has anti corrosive treatment on the inside, anti corossive primer, and extra clear coat. The paint is just beautiful. The components have little to no wear. The crankset was polished from the beginning so I gave it some Autosol to freshen the mirror polish. This is a really nice 1981 Super Record crank with alloy Guerciotti chainring screws. The brake levers have NOS hoods, but one of them has a crack in the rubber. The wheels are new, made with excellent condition hubs, NOS Campagnolo Victory Crono rims and double butted spokes. The frame is from 1981, and it has porta catena holes, so I’ve decided to mount a Porta Catena system that works flawless. The rear derailleur is also pat. For extra lightness I’ve addes a pair of Campagnolo Super Record titanium spindle pedals and a mint condition 14-24 Regina Extra 5 speed alloy freewheel. The San Marco Rolls is new. The Guerciotti weight only 9.3kilos completely equipped, as seen in the pics. Everything has been cleaned, lubricated and tuned. You can judge the actual condition in the hi res pictures.
