Rigi bici corta the short bike from the 80s. This is a fine sample of a very sought after piece of collectible bicycles. It highly represents a sample of italian craftmanship and design from the 80s. 57 cm c-c seat tube. 58 cm c-c top tube. The bicycle is in excellent condition. The frame has no dents, cracks or bends. Paintwork has been renovated with new decals. The fork has been re-chromed. In Italian Bici Corta means’short bike’. Giorgio Rinaldi, the Italian engineer who built the “Bici corta” (Rigi comes from RInaldi GIorgio), had in mind a shorter, lighter therefore faster frame. Two smaller tubes replace the standard seat tube of 1 diameter, about 14 mm diameter each. This allows the rear triangle to be shortened by 6 cm, placing the rear wheel between the twin seat tubes. In 1979 Giorgio Rinaldi was awarded with the design prize Compasso dOro for the short bike. By anchoring the twin tubes at the outside edges of the bb-shell, a structural rigidity is attained that is absolutely incredible. Hill climbing, massed start and sprinting make the Rigi shine. Instead of flexing the bottom bracket shell, the power goes straight into the freewheel. The Rigi is built with Columbus tubing throughout. The fork blades are of a special stiff NiCr stainless steel. As for the parts there can be nothing less than the best – Campagnolo Super Record and a Brooks saddle.
