This example represents one of the earliest second-generation Campagnolo Super Record rear derailleurs, featuring the desirable PATENT-78 B-knuckle together with the original “SUPER RECORD” engraved inner cage plate. Complete New Old Stock examples in this level of preservation are becoming increasingly difficult to find. While fully functional, many collectors would choose to preserve an example of this originality as part of a serious Campagnolo collection rather than install it on a bicycle. Introduced during Campagnolo’s transition into the second generation of Super Record, the PATENT-78 configuration marks an important stage in the evolution of one of cycling’s most celebrated rear derailleurs. The combination of the PATENT-78 B-knuckle and the engraved SUPER RECORD inner cage plate makes this example especially appealing to collectors interested in the history of Campagnolo components. More than a bicycle component, this is a preserved piece of Campagnolo history. This derailleur has been part of my personal Campagnolo collection. I hope it will find a new home with someone who appreciates its originality and historical significance as much as I have.
